Stump Grinding
When you decide to have a tree removed on your property, Summit Tree Service, Inc. gives you a choice on the level of service you would like to purchase in the process of removing the stump left behind from the removal of your tree. The following four service descriptions explain the levels of service offered by Summit Tree Service, Inc. for stump removal service.
To Flush the Stump
Flush the stump refers to cutting the stump down to within 2-3” of the grade of the ground. The surface roots and stump are left to decay in the ground. This is best done only in natural areas such as the edge of the woods or in a bark mulched bed area. This is also the recommended service when grinding the stump may result on damage to the root zone of the other trees remaining in the landscape. There are some stumps that just can NOT be ground out (i.e. too close to the building, underground wires, fence, etc…). Those stumps could be sprayed with a herbicide to get the same results.
To Grind the Stump
Grinding the stump refers to grinding the stump to 6-8” below the grade of the ground. If you will be building in the area of the stump removal or if you desire to plant a new tree in the same location, the stump will have to be ground out to a depth below the standard 6-8”. With this basic stump grinding service all wood grindings & dirt removed during the grinding process will be left onsite. Walkways and driveways will be swept off and some debris will be kicked back into the hole to prevent a trip hazard.
To Grind the Stump Mound or Surface Roots
The grinding of the larger surface roots may also be recommended and if the stump is mounded the whole mound will be ground out to make the area as level as possible for future use for an additional price beyond the basic stump grinding price.
To Clean-Up the Stump & Debris
In addition to having Summit Tree Service, Inc. grind your stump, you may also hire Summit to clean-up and haul away the dirt and wood chips left from the stump grinding. Summit Tree Service, Inc., will back fill the stump with dirt from the grinding and will leave the hole 3-4” below the grade for you to fill with fresh topsoil. The wood chips and extra dirt will be picked up and hauled off your property. The area around the stump grinding will be raked clean of grinding debris.
To Fill with Dirt & Seed
To complete the stump grinding service you may chose to have Summit Tree Service, Inc. fill the hole left by the stump grinding with screened topsoil and top quality grass seed.
