The Groundsman is responsible to support trim production work in the field. The Groundsman will perform all work with safety and quality being top priorities. The Groundsman is expected to work closely with the Tree Foreman and Journeyman/Tree Climbers to achieve maximum job efficiency.

The Groundsman position is a full-time hourly position reporting directly to the Tree Service Operations Manager and/or Tree Foreman.


Customer Service – Continuous

Accountable for customer satisfaction on assigned work orders

Daily Work Preparation

Accountable for the daily preparation of trucks and equipment

Production Support

Accountable for assisting Foreman and Journeyman/Tree Climbers in completing work orders in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner in a way that does not sacrifice quality and exceeds customer expectations.


• Meet with Foreman or Sales person to understand equipment needed for daily work.

• Support Climbers by preparing trucks, collecting equipment and departing the shop within 15 minutes of arrival.

• Perform and correctly document daily truck inspection checks.

• Inspect job-specific equipment to ensure all items are in a safe working order. Ensure crewmembers are preparing trucks, collecting equipment and departing the shop in a timely manner.

• Responsible to make sure at the end of each work day vehicles and equipment need to be fueled, cleaned and fully readied for service in preparation for the next day.

Production Support

Support Foreman and Journeyman/Tree Climbers to complete jobs safely and on-time of all job tasks.

Communicate with Foreman and Journeyman regarding obstacles and hazards.

Primarily responsible for:

• Site setup per your Foreman’s instructions

• Public safety around the job site

• Tool preparation

• Assistance with rigging

• Chipper and winch operation

• Debris clean-up

• Operate all equipment safely and productively to complete the job tasks according to ANSI standards.

• Expected to always be working; finding things to do.

• Ensure the work site is clean and presentable after daily completion.

• Report crew member personnel issues to your Foreman and, if necessary, request a meeting with Tree Service Operations Manager.

• Supervise site safety and quality to ensure job ANSI 300 standards are met and all safety procedures are followed – take responsibility for the safety of yourself, your crew, and the public.

• Ensure open communication to personnel so tree work and crew performance can be frequently reviewed and followed up on.

• Ensure that the work site is clean and presentable after daily completion

• Report crew member personnel issues to your Foreman and, if necessary, request a meeting with Tree Service Operations Manager.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 – $16.00 per hour
